'Firefox 140' official release, adding feature to reduce memory usage by releasing tabs

You can now add a custom search engine by going to Settings > Search and selecting Add.

* Support for removing extension buttons from the toolbar
You can now remove the extension button from the toolbar - just right-click on the button and select 'Remove from Toolbar' to easily hide it.

You can now adjust the display range of pinned vertical tabs, making the display of pinned tabs more flexible.

◆Improved translation of all pages
The full page translation feature has been improved to prioritize translating only content close to the current viewing area, making it faster and more responsive.

◆Removing the Pocket toolbar icon
Due to the discontinuation of Pocket, the toolbar icon and Pocket integration feature on the new tab page have been removed.

◆Other changes
Service Workers are now available in Private Browsing mode. This enhancement builds on our work to support IndexedDB and the DOM Cache API in Private Browsing via encrypted storage. This change will enable many websites, especially those that rely on background tasks, to benefit from Service Workers.

aria-keyshortcuts is now supported on Linux, macOS, and Windows, making it possible to provide keyboard shortcuts for elements.

- Added support for the Cookie Store API, an asynchronous cookie API for scripts that run in HTML documents and service workers.

- Added support for the CSS Custom Highlight API, allowing styling of ranges of text.

Firefox 140 also includes several security bug fixes .

The next major version, Firefox 141, is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 local time.
