The Galaxy Z Fold7 has a main camera system consisting of a 200-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera on the back. Of these, the 200-megapixel wide-angle camera is said to be the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This time, we will thoroughly examine the performance of the Galaxy Z Fold7's rear camera.

◆2: Verifying zoom performance
The Galaxy Z Fold7 has a maximum zoom of 30x and can also take ultra-wide-angle shots at 0.6x.

I took photos of the same location while changing the zoom ratio. First, here's the photo taken at 0.6x. Note that the sample photos in this article have not been edited other than by reducing the size; you can click on each image to see the original at full size.

And the zoom magnification is below 30x. When you zoom in to 30x, the image quality is not really practical.

◆3: I tried taking a photo at 200 million pixels
When shooting with the 200-megapixel wide-angle camera with a zoom ratio of 1x, you can choose the number of pixels from 12 megapixels, 50 megapixels, or 200 megapixels.

Below is a photo taken at 200 million pixels. Click to see the full-size image, and you'll see that the grass in the distance is clearly recorded. However, 120 million pixels is sufficient for viewing on a PC or smartphone screen.

◆4: Try taking photos of food and nighttime photography
Unless otherwise noted, the following examples were taken at 12 megapixels with a zoom factor of 1x. First, I took a photo of an asphalt road and a clear sky. The summer-like, fluffy shadows of the clouds look great.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is equipped with a feature called 'Focus Enhancer,' which switches to macro mode when you get close to the subject, allowing you to focus even at close range. This is what it looks like when you get as close as possible to focusing on a fallen leaf.

Below is a close-up photo taken at the shortest distance, clearly showing each and every leaf vein.

I moved to

the Nepalese restaurant Balpipal and took a photo of the bitter melon on the porch. Because the depth of field is shallow, the bitter melon in the foreground is in focus and the one in the background is nicely blurred.

I was able to capture the curry in a color close to what I remember.

The color of this yellow plate can sometimes fade depending on the camera, but this photo captures it in a color that is close to what I remember.

You can get pretty close to the subject, so you'll want to take lots of different photos.

I took a photo of mazesoba noodles with

Mazetaro . The colors of the pork fillet and green onions are also very close to what I remember. After taking a variety of photos, I got the impression that the Galaxy Z Fold7 is very good at recording colors.

I took a photo of a road at night with 200 million pixels. Just like in the daytime, it took a photo in an instant. Even when I zoomed in and looked at the letters on the signs, I could see that the image was recorded without any distortion.

◆5: Convenient features unique to foldable smartphones
The Galaxy Z Fold7 uses the rear camera and can display a preview screen on the rear sub-display, allowing for 200-megapixel selfies.

You can also split the main display into left and right halves, so that the photos you take are displayed on the left side.

Another great feature is that you can edit images while viewing them enlarged on the main display.

◆6: I also ran a benchmark test
To measure the overall performance of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, we ran

the AnTuTu Benchmark . The overall score was 1,992,316, the CPU score was 489,383, the GPU score was 799,828, the memory score was 431,897, and the UX score was 341,208.

The scores for the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy S25 Ultra are summarized in the table below. While the Galaxy Z Fold7 is equipped with the same Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, its CPU and GPU scores are lower than those of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. For this reason, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is recommended for those who want a smartphone with slightly higher performance. However, performance has been significantly improved over the previous generation model, so there is no need to worry that the folding mechanism has sacrificed performance.
