Which paid subscription do GIGAZINE readers love? What is the most popular subscription?

There are various paid subscription services in the world, and the services that individuals use are different, such as Neftflix if you like movies and dramas, Spotify if you like music, and Nintendo Switch Online if you like games.

GIGAZINE conducts a survey three times a year , asking various questions to its avid readers, so this time we looked into ' the paid subscriptions that GIGAZINE readers love .'

Below is a graph summarizing the paid subscriptions used by GIGAZINE readers. The top 10 were, in order from top to bottom, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, YouTube Premium, Apple Music, Spotify, Adobe Creative Cloud, Disney+, d Anime Store, and U-NEXT. The subscriptions ranked in the top 10 were classified as six video-related, two music-related, one game-related, and one creative-related. In addition, there were a considerable number of people (23%) who did not use paid subscriptions, so advertising paid subscriptions targeted at GIGAZINE readers may have a certain effect.

We also investigated whether there are differences in paid subscription preferences between men and women. The gender ratio of GIGAZINE readers is 86% male and 14% female.

The paid subscriptions that men prefer are as follows: The top 10 are, in order from top to bottom, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, YouTube Premium, Apple Music, Adobe Creative Cloud, Spotify, Disney+, d Anime Store, and U-NEXT. Compared to the overall ranking, the positions of Spotify and Adobe Creative Cloud have been switched.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by women are, in order from top to bottom, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, Spotify, YouTube Premium, Apple Music, Adobe Creative Cloud, U-NEXT, Disney+, and Kindle Unlimited. Spotify, which is 7th among men and 6th overall, is ranked 4th among women, showing its high support. U-NEXT is also 10th overall and among men, but rises to 8th place when limited to women. In addition, Kindle Unlimited, an unlimited Kindle book reading service, ranked 10th.

GIGAZINE also distributes manga and articles on Kindle Unlimited , so if you're interested, check it out.

In addition, we investigated whether there were any differences in subscription preferences between unmarried and married people. The married rate of GIGAZINE readers was about 38%.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by married people with children are, in order from top to bottom, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, Disney+, Apple Music, YouTube Premium, U-NEXT, Amazon Music Unlimited, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Spotify. Spotify, a music subscription, has fallen to 10th place, just outside the top 10, and d Anime Store has dropped to 12th place.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by married people without children are, in order from top to bottom, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, YouTube Premium, Adobe Creative Cloud, Apple Music, U-NEXT, Disney+, Spotify, and PlayStation Plus Essential. PlayStation's paid subscription, PlayStation Plus Essential, also ranked in the top 10.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by unmarried people with children are, in order from top to bottom, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Apple Music, YouTube Premium, Nintendo Switch Online, U-NEXT, Adobe Creative Cloud, d Anime Store, Disney+, and Kindle Unlimited. Six video subscriptions made it into the top 10.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by unmarried people without children are, in order, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, YouTube Premium, Apple Music, Spotify, d Anime Store, Adobe Creative Cloud, PlayStation Plus Essentials, and U-NEXT.

We will also look into whether preferred paid subscriptions change depending on whether or not the person has a boyfriend/girlfriend. Approximately 11% of respondents said they have a boyfriend/girlfriend, approximately 51% said they do not, and approximately 38% did not answer.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by users who answered that they have a boyfriend or girlfriend are, in order from the top, Amazon Prime, Netflix, YouTube Premium, Nintendo Switch Online, Apple Music, Spotify, Disney+, Adobe Creative Cloud, U-NEXT, and Kindle Unlimited. What is particularly interesting is the small number of people who do not use paid subscriptions, with the number of people who do not use any subscriptions being smaller than the number of Nintendo Switch Online users.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by users who answered that they don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend are, in order from the top, Amazon Prime, Nintendo Switch Online, Netflix, YouTube Premium, d Anime Store, Apple Music, Spotify, Adobe Creative Cloud, PlayStation Plus Essential, and Niconico Premium Membership. In stark contrast to users who answered that they have a boyfriend/girlfriend, there are a significant number of users who do not use paid subscriptions, and it is notable that Niconico Premium Membership is ranked in the top 10.

I wanted to find out whether there were differences in paid subscription preferences by prefecture, but since I would have to examine such a large amount of data, I decided to focus on the five prefectures with the most GIGAZINE readers. The top five prefectures with the most GIGAZINE readers are Tokyo, Kanagawa, Osaka, Saitama, and Aichi, with the Kanto region showing a strong presence.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by Tokyo residents are, in order from top to bottom, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, YouTube Premium, Apple Music, Adobe Creative Cloud, Disney+, Spotify, d Anime Store, and Amazon Music Unlimited. Notably, there are very few people who do not use any of them.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by Kanagawa residents are, in order, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, YouTube Premium, Apple Music, Disney+, U-NEXT, Spotify, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Kindle Unlimited.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by Osaka residents were, in order from top to bottom, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, Adobe Creative Cloud, YouTube Premium, Spotify, Apple Music, PlayStation Plus Essential, Disney+, and d Anime Store. PlayStation Plus Essential ranked quite high.

The top 10 paid subscriptions preferred by Saitama residents are, in order, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, YouTube Premium, Spotify, Disney+, d Anime Store, U-NEXT, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Apple Music.

The top 10 paid subscription services preferred by Aichi residents are, in order from the top, Amazon Prime, Nintendo Switch Online, Netflix, YouTube Premium, Amazon Music Unlimited, Adobe Creative Cloud, Disney+, d Anime Store, PlayStation Plus Essential, and U-NEXT. Amazon Music Unlimited made it into fifth place, which is a very unusual result.

Amazon Prime remains the most popular subscription service among all user groups, which is impressive. The next three subscription services in popularity after Amazon Prime, Netflix, Nintendo Switch Online, and YouTube Premium, are also highly popular among all groups.

However, the other subscriptions were all in the same league, and the rankings varied considerably depending on the user demographic. In other words, it seems that even a small change can cause a big rise in ranking.
