The release date is Wednesday, December 10, 2025, and the reservation deadline for the first limited edition is Sunday, August 17, 2025.

When it came to releasing stockpiled rice, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries had a trick up its sleeve. It was a system to buy back the released rice within one year. Even if the stockpiled rice is released this time, if the government buys it back a year later, there will be a supply shortage again and the price will not fall. In response to my criticism, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries extended the buy-back period to within five years. Furthermore, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Koizumi abolished this system.
Secondly, they sold stockpiled rice to JA. Under the old food control system, the government would buy rice from JA and sell it to wholesalers. With this new stockpile, the government could simply buy it from JA and sell it to wholesalers, but instead they are selling it back to JA. This takes time and effort to distribute, so it's only natural that it will take longer to reach consumers. It has to go through wholesalers again from JA, which means another delay. What's more, it seems that special packaging is required, and even after a month, only about 2% of it has reached consumers.
This point was also improved by Minister Koizumi, who decided to sell it to major supermarkets. Although it could have been done, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries under Minister Eto did not do it.
