Film production company Particle6 announced the launch of 'Xicoia,' the world's first AI acting studio, at the Zurich Film Festival, which runs from September 25 to October 5, 2025. Tilly Norwood was also announced as one of the AI actors who will be working at Xicoia. Particle6 founder Eileen van der Velden revealed that she is in the process of signing Norwood to a talent agency.

SAG-AFTRA responded by condemning Norwood, the AI acting studio Xicoia, and the idea of replacing real actors with AI. 'To be clear, 'Tilly Norwood' is not an actor; she is merely a character generated by a computer program trained on the performances of countless professional performers, without the permission or compensation of any real actors,' SAG-AFTRA said in a statement. 'This use of stolen performances to displace actors' jobs, endanger their livelihoods, and create problems that diminish human artistry.'

Emily Blunt , who stars in the film 'The Smashing Machine,' said in an interview with The Variety about the emergence of AI actors like Norwood, 'Oh my god, it's the worst.' 'It's really, really scary. Please, agencies, stop doing this. Please, stop taking away our human connection.'

Melissa Barrera criticized Norwood and Xicoia on her Instagram story, saying, 'I want them to get rid of all the actors who work for agents who do this,' and 'This is so disgusting. I wish they would read the situation.'

Responding to Barrera's post,

Kiersey Clemons commented, 'Fire the agent. Make his name public.'

Mara Wilson responded, 'What happened to the hundreds of young women whose faces were montage'd to create her? Couldn't they have been hired?'

Trace Lysette describes an AI actor as 'like someone who cuts in line for lunch one day and doesn't even say sorry.'

Ralph Ineson posted on his X account, 'Go away.'

Before the flood of complaints from Hollywood actors and SAG-AFTRA, Norwood's creator, Felden, posted a statement on his Instagram saying, 'AI works are not substitutes for humans, but creative works, in other words, works of art.'
