YouTuber Granny Retires from Skyrim After 10 Years of Live Streaming

Shirley Curry, the grandmother YouTuber who gained attention for playing Bethesda's game 'Skyrim,' has finally announced that she will stop making Skyrim-related videos.
After 15 years with Bethesda's most important RPG, Skyrim Grandma retires for real: 'I'm not having any fun with it anymore,' and comments from 'all the little kids' in her 1.3 million YouTube subs aren't helping | GamesRadar+
Curry, also known as Skyrim Grandma, is a YouTuber who first posted her Skyrim videos in 2015 and gained widespread recognition. By 2022, her channel subscriber count had surpassed 1 million, reaching 1.3 million at the time of writing. She has even been recognized by Bethesda, who has even proposed including Skyrim Grandma as an NPC in their upcoming game, The Elder Scrolls 6, scheduled for release in 2026. At the time of writing, Skyrim Grandma is 89 years old.
After uploading Skyrim videos for nearly 10 years, Skyrim Granny temporarily retired from making gaming videos in 2024, stating, 'It's not fun anymore, I'm tired, and I'm bored of it.' In early 2025, she temporarily left Skyrim and began posting videos under the name 'The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered Granny,' showing a change in the content of her posts.
Then on September 29, 2025, Grandma Skyrim posted a vlog titled 'Saying Goodbye to Skyrim,' announcing that she would be stepping away from Skyrim-related videos entirely.

According to Grandma Skyrim, she had finally grown tired of Skyrim, and was troubled by the fact that, apart from a 'very small percentage of older regular viewers,' the majority of her audience was very young children, and she was not getting the feedback she expected.
For example, comments like 'Hi, Grandma' or 'I love you, Grandma' may occasionally receive 'likes' from Skyrim Grandma herself and countless likes from other users, but Skyrim Grandma points out that these comments 'are not the purpose of my spending time making and uploading videos.'

Grandma Skyrim said, 'The reason for this is that I'm almost 90 years old. I'd make one, two or three videos with a new character and then quickly get bored of them again. So I've decided not to upload any Skyrim related videos. It's just not fun anymore. I think it's all because of the kids out there. And that's pretty much what I'm trying to say. I hope all my older viewers will still stick around and talk to me.'
In addition, Grandma Skyrim concludes the video by adding, 'I will continue to upload vlogs occasionally, provided that I have something to say to you all, and that it is for the veterans.' Here, 'veterans' refers to 'those in their teens or older who regularly comment on my videos and actually talk to me.'
