A detailed look at the exterior of the compact, lightweight, dustproof, and water-resistant mirrorless camera 'OM-5 Mark II'

The OM-5 Mark II is a mirrorless camera that was released on July 18, 2025. Its compact and lightweight body is packed with features like dust and water resistance equivalent to flagship models, as well as a 5-axis image stabilization mechanism. I was able to borrow an OM-5 Mark II from OM Digital Solutions, so I first took a closer look at its appearance.

The OM-5 Mark II looks like this. It comes in three colors: silver, black, and sand beige. I borrowed the sand beige version this time.

The lens mount is Micro Four Thirds, with an effective pixel count of approximately 20.37 megapixels. The camera body is equipped with a built-in sensor-shift 5-axis image stabilization mechanism, which provides 6.5 stops of image stabilization in the center and 5.5 stops of image stabilization in the periphery. Furthermore, when combined with a sync image stabilization compatible lens, this provides 7.5 stops of image stabilization in the center and 6.5 stops of image stabilization in the periphery.

Various buttons are placed on the back within reach of your thumb.

The viewfinder uses an organic EL display with approximately 2.36 million dots, a field of view of approximately 100%, and a magnification of approximately 1.23x to 1.37x.

The rear monitor is 3.0 inches in size, has a 2-axis adjustable display, has approximately 1.04 million dots, and supports touch operation.

The battleship part looks like this.

The power lever is on the left side.

There is also a hot shoe.

The area around the shutter button looks like this. You can adjust the shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, etc. using the dials at the front and back. There is also a recording button separate from the shutter button. Video can be recorded at up to 60 fps in Full HD and up to 30 fps in 4K.

There is a terminal cover on the left side.

Under the terminal cover are the microphone terminal, remote cable terminal, HDMI-micro terminal, and USB Type-C terminal.

There is a card slot on the right side.

Only one card can be inserted. Compatible standards are 'SD', 'SDHC (UHS-I/II)', and 'SDXC (UHS-I/II)'.

There is a battery slot and a tripod hole on the bottom.

This is what it looks like when you open the battery slot.

The battery that can be used is 'BLS-50'.

The combined weight of the device, strap, and battery is 451g.

This is what it looks like when equipped with the '

M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-45mm F4.0 PRO '.

When worn, it weighs 719g.

The grip is quite good.

It is lightweight and easy to hold with one hand.

Amazon.co.jp is selling a set of the OM-5 Mark II and M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-45mm F4.0 PRO for 178,000 yen (tax included).
