What does the 'Magically Modified Cup Noodles' taste like? We tried all four varieties to see what they taste like.

'Magic Modified Cup Noodles,' 'Magic Modified Cup Noodles Curry ,' 'Magic Modified Cup Noodles Seafood Noodles ,' and ' Magic Modified Cup Noodles Chili Tomato Noodles,' which are modified versions of Cup Noodles' classic flavors, will be released on Monday, September 8, 2025. All four types have been modified to be 'immoral and delicious.' Since they arrived at the GIGAZINE editorial department a little earlier, I tried eating them to see what they taste like.

From left to right, they are 'Magic Modified Cup Noodles,' 'Magic Modified Cup Noodles Curry,' 'Magic Modified Cup Noodles Seafood Noodles,' and 'Magic Modified Cup Noodles Chili Tomato Noodles.'

◆Magically modified Cup Noodles
First, I'll try the modified Cup Noodles. It's said to be 'a motsunabe soy sauce flavor full of meaty flavor.'

Ingredients include garlic seasoning and chives.

Calories per serving: 384kcal.

The ingredients are 'mystery meat,' 'cabbage,' 'leeks,' 'sesame,' and 'back fat.' Cup noodles are known for including shrimp and eggs in their ingredients, but these are not included in the modified Cup Noodles.

Pour boiling water over the tea and wait 3 minutes.

Finished. With the chives and sesame seeds floating in it, it looks like motsunabe.

The soup is soy sauce flavored with garlic.

The garlic, sesame, chives, and soy sauce give it a flavor similar to motsunabe soup. Because it's called 'Magically Modified Cup Noodles,' I imagined it would have a very different flavor while still retaining a slight hint of regular Cup Noodles, but the ingredients and soup were completely different, so it felt more like a new flavor in the Cup Noodles series than a 'magically modified version of Cup Noodles.'

Modified Cup Noodle Curry
The modified Cup Noodle Curry tastes like 'Rich Garlic Mayonnaise Curry.'

The ingredients include garlic seasoning, but there is no mention of mayonnaise.

The calories are 404kcal.

The ingredients are mystery meat, potatoes, carrots, and green onions, the same as the regular curry flavor.

The finished modified Cup Noodle Curry looks like this.

When you drink the soup, it has a very strong garlicky flavor.

The base flavor is a regular curry, with plenty of garlic added. The mayonnaise flavor isn't very prominent, and it only serves to cover up the spice of the soup and add a touch of sourness. It contains the 'big potato' that is characteristic of curry-flavored Cup Noodles, and the result is truly a magical transformation, with the flavor dramatically altered based on the curry flavor.

◆Magically Modified Cup Noodles Seafood Noodles
The modified Cup Noodle Seafood Noodles has been made with mentaiko, cheese, and Worcestershire sauce to create the flavor of 'rich and delicious mentaiko cheese seafood monja.'

Ingredients include processed cod roe, natural cheese, and powdered sauce.

Calories per serving is 360kcal.

The ingredients are squid, crab sticks, cheddar cheese-style cubes, cabbage, and green onions.

The finished modified Cup Noodle Seafood Noodle looks like this:

When you sip the soup, the delicious flavor of seafood spreads throughout your mouth.

Like the regular seafood flavor, the squid flavor stands out. It certainly tastes different from the regular seafood flavor, but it's not like you can clearly tell it's 'Mentaiko flavor!' or 'Cheese flavor!' It's more like, 'It's a different taste than usual, but I'm not sure what flavor has been added.' I didn't think it tasted like monjayaki.

Modified Cup Noodles Chili Tomato Noodles
The modified Cup Noodle Chili Tomato Noodles has been made with shrimp, chili bean paste, and other ingredients to create a 'shrimp chili tomato flavor with the aroma of ginger and garlic.'

Ingredients include chili miso, processed cheese, and seasoned shrimp.

Calories: 357kcal.

The ingredients are shrimp, tomato, cabbage, green onion, and corn.

The finished modified Cup Noodle Chili Tomato Noodle looks like this.

The chili tomato flavor is characterized by its spicy flavor, which is further enhanced by the chili bean paste and ginger.

The ingredients include shrimp, and the combination of chili bean paste and shrimp definitely gives it a chili shrimp flavor. The tomato flavor is also prominent, and it's a truly magical creation that makes the most of the chili tomato flavor while still creating a chili shrimp flavor.

The entire modified Cup Noodle series is scheduled to be released on September 8, 2025, with the suggested retail price of all four varieties being 236 yen (excluding tax).
