Fake documents purporting to be from storage manufacturer Phison are spreading about Windows 11 update issues that cause SSD problems, and Phison is taking legal action

A Windows update released on August 12, 2025, has been reported to be causing SSD problems after large file transfers. Phison, a Taiwanese manufacturer of storage and memory controllers, has stated that it is aware of the issue and is working to address it. However, the company also stated that it will take appropriate legal action against the circulation of a forged document claiming to be a 'summary of the Phison SSD controller issue.'

Phison Acknowledges SSD Failure Reports On Windows 11 Due To KB5063878/KB5062660 Updates; Starts Investigations On Its Controllers To Resolve The Issue

The issue is that in an environment where the Windows 11 update ' KB5062660 ' released in July 2025 and ' KB5063878 ' released in August have been applied, writing large amounts of data (tens of GB) to the SSD may cause it to become inaccessible.
X user Nekoru Sukii (@Necoru_cat) has published the results of his own testing, which has confirmed issues with SSDs from multiple manufacturers.
This is a document about a suspected storage issue related to KB5063878, but because I was sleep-deprived while creating it, it was full of typos, so I'm uploading a corrected version...

In response to the report, Phison stated that it was aware of the impact the update had on the industry as a whole, including the potential impact on multiple storage devices supported by Phison, and that it was investigating potentially affected storage controllers and working with its partners to address the issue.
However, Phison subsequently responded to a document circulating titled 'Summary of the Phison SSD Controller Issue,' which claimed that 'Phison SSD controllers have specific and significant issues.' The company stated that the document was fake and that it was 'taking appropriate legal action.'
