AI mode is a system that can be used in Google search. Instead of simply displaying search results as in the past, AI generates and displays answers to users' search queries, making it easier for users to intuitively access the information they are looking for.
This AI mode now uses Gemini 2.5 Pro, which Google calls its 'most advanced AI model. 'Gemini 2.5 Pro excels at advanced reasoning, math, and programming questions, and provides linked answers to complex queries,' Google says.
In addition, Gemini 2.5 Pro's 'Deep Search' is now available in AI mode. Google describes Deep Search as 'a tool that can browse hundreds of sites, correlate them all, and create a comprehensive report in just a few minutes.'
At the time of writing, the AI mode is only available in some countries, such as the U.S. Furthermore, the Gemini 2.5 Pro's AI mode is only available to Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra subscribers and Google Labs participants, and is not yet available to free users.
The recipient can select Gemini 2.5 Pro from the AI mode drop-down menu.
In addition, a new agent function will be introduced to Google Search from July 16, 2025. This is a function in which an AI agent collects information from multiple companies and services to check restaurant reservation status, product prices and availability.
For example, when searching for 'pet grooming salons near me,' a new option will appear in the search results: 'Let AI check prices.' You can choose from a few options, and an AI agent will automatically aggregate information from multiple companies and present options to you. The agent feature will be gradually rolled out to all users in the U.S.
