Google's free AI information collection app 'NotebookLM' adds 'Featured notebooks' that compiles recommended information sources such as the complete works of Shakespeare and financial reports of large companies, and also introduces a notebook publishing function

'

NotebookLM ' is a free web app released by Google that allows you to register various information on the Internet, such as web pages and YouTube videos, as information sources, and then use AI to summarize the information sources and answer questions related to them. Now, ' Featured notebooks ' have been added to NotebookLM, which has carefully selected information sources pre-registered.

NotebookLM is a web app that allows you to register any information source and use it as your own AI chatbot. For example, you can use it to 'load software documentation and ask how to use it' or 'register multiple papers in an interesting field and have it summarize the contents.' It also supports loading YouTube videos, so you can 'summarize only the important parts of a long video in a short sentence.' The steps to summarize YouTube videos with NotebookLM are detailed in the following article.

The newly added Featured Notebooks allow you to access notebook templates created by Google in collaboration with various research institutions and authors. Previously, you had to register information sources for NotebookLM yourself, but with Featured Notebooks you can quickly start using notebooks with high-quality information registered. At the time of writing, the following eight types of Featured Notebooks are available:

- Longevity advice from Eric Topol, author of the bestselling book 'Super Agers'
- Expert analysis and predictions for 2025 published in The Economist's annual report 'The World Ahead'
- Advice notes based on the column 'How to Build a Life' by best-selling author Arthur C. Brooks
A science lover's guide to visiting Yellowstone National Park
An overview of long-term trends in human well-being published by the Oxford University project Our World in Data
-Scientifically-backed parenting advice from psychologist Jacqueline Nesi's popular newsletter, Techno Sapiens
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare
- First quarter 2025 financial results for the world's top 50 publicly listed companies

When I accessed the 'World's Top 50 Publicly-listed Companies Q1 2025 Financial Results,' I found financial reports and investor briefings from major global companies such as Apple, Amazon, NVIDIA, and Toyota. Users can input questions in the chat box and have the AI summarize each company's economic situation and future strategy.

In addition, a new feature has been added that allows you to publish notebooks with your own information sources on the Internet. To publish a notebook, click 'Share' in the upper right corner of the screen.

Click the triangle button in the 'Notebook Access' column.

Click 'Anyone with the link.'

Click 'Copy Link' to copy the public URL, then click 'Save.'

Now the notebook has been switched to a 'public notebook.' All you have to do is share the copied URL via a messaging app or social media.
