In the EU, efforts are underway in Greece, backed by France and Spain, to limit the time teenagers spend online.
However, on June 10th, at a middle school in Nogent in eastern France, a 31-year-old female teaching assistant was stabbed to death by a 14-year-old student while inspecting students' belongings.

In response, President Macron said, 'We can no longer wait,' and announced plans to regulate social media for those under the age of 15 and to require age verification on websites selling knives and other items.
President Macron posted on X, 'The Screen Commission has recommended banning social media for people under the age of 15. Each platform has a way of verifying age, so let's do it.'
