You can see Hope JR in action in the following movie. The manufacturing cost, including the purchase cost of the necessary parts, is $ 3,000 (about 430,000 yen), and not only can it walk with 66 degrees of freedom, but it can also manipulate many objects.

The Reachy Mini is a desktop unit that can move its head, talk, and listen, and can also be used to test AI apps. The assembly kit is expected to cost between $250 and $300.

Hugging Face has not set a specific shipping timeline for the Hope JR and Reach Mini, but in an email to TechCrunch, Hugging Face CEO Clem DeLange said the company aims to start shipping at least the first few units by the end of 2025 and will open a waiting list for orders.
Hugging Face is known for its AI development platform, but in recent years it has been actively moving into the robotics industry, launching LeRobot in 2024, a collection of open AI models, datasets, and tools for building robotic systems.
In addition, in April 2025, the company acquired Pollen Robotics, a humanoid robot startup. By applying Pollen Robotics' technology and partnering with The Robot Studio, the company announced the open source robot arm 'SO-101' in May 2025.

'What's important is that HopeJR and Reachy Mini are open source, so anyone can build and rebuild them and understand how they work, and they're affordable, so robotics won't be monopolized by a few large companies with dangerous black box systems,' DeLang said.
