Gmail to add 'Personalized Smart Replies' feature that uses AI to generate replies and 'Gemini to clean up your inbox' feature

When writing a reply to an email, it can take a lot of time to check the context and details buried in files. It also takes time to create the message you want. To improve this situation, Google has announced that it will be adding a 'personalized smart reply' feature to Gmail.

'Personalized Smart Replies' takes it a step further.

In this example, the user, Stephanie, is presented with three options for how to reply to the email sent to her by Eric.

The parts highlighted in blue are based on Stephanie's writing style in the past.

The green highlighted parts are based on emails Stephanie sent in the past.

The yellow highlighted parts were written based on a file Stephanie had in her Google Drive.

In this way, an appropriate and accurate reply proposal is created, so all you have to do is revise the necessary parts and send it.

A new feature will also be added: 'Make schedule reservations directly in Gmail.'

Create a reply as before.

A calendar icon appears in the email composition menu.

When you click, a menu including 'Insert Booking Page' will appear.

I was able to schedule an appointment for 'Large dog - Full grooming' entirely via Gmail.

Additionally, a new feature has been introduced that allows you to 'clean up your inbox with a single command.'

You'll see Gemini on the right side of your inbox.

Enter 'Archive all of my appointment booked confirmations from last month' in the prompt input form.

Gemini will then start searching your inbox.

A button appears in Gemini displaying the 64 matching emails.

You can archive them all at once.

'Personalized Smart Replies' will be available in the second half of 2025, while 'Book Directly in Gmail' and 'Inbox Cleanup' will be available in the next quarter (July to September 2025).
