NBCUniversal, the parent company of 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' production and distribution company, released a press release on May 13, 2025, about the various films that will be released through 2026, the 100th anniversary of the company's founding.
On this occasion, 'Super Mario World' was included in the list of films scheduled to be exclusively distributed on the streaming service Peacock after their release.
If you check past press releases on the Wayback Machine provided by the Internet Archive, you will see a reference to 'Super Mario World.'
However, at the time of writing, the mention of 'Super Mario World' has been removed, along with any references to 'Shrek' and 'Minions.'

The sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie was announced in March 2024 and is scheduled for release on April 3, 2026, with directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic still at the helm. A live-action version of The Legend of Zelda is also in the works for a March 2027 release.
