Cybertruck owners are confused by months of hate directed at Tesla drivers, with some saying they 'never expected to be targeted' and others saying they 'thought buying a Cybertruck would bring attention, but didn't expect it to cause backlash.'

Enthusiasts of Tesla's Cybertruck pickup truck, which looks like something out of a science fiction movie, are struggling with the public's resentment for simply driving a Tesla car.

According to John Cronin, one of the organizers of the Cybertruck Rodeo, an event for Cybertruck enthusiasts, many Cybertruck owners have experienced being given the middle finger or receiving angry looks while driving their Cybertrucks on the road. Cronin himself has had similar experiences, so he wrote in his column , 'I knew I would get attention if I bought a Cybertruck, but I never expected to get backlash.'
The hatred for the Cybertruck comes from the political behavior of Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Musk is the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under President Donald Trump's administration, and is pushing for aggressive reform of government organizations. In addition, he often antagonizes some people with his inflammatory comments on the social networking site 'X (formerly Twitter)' which he owns.
There are also extremists who hate Tesla out of hatred for Musk, and there have been a series of criminal acts, such as vandalizing Tesla cars and attacking Tesla dealerships.

There were fears of protests at the second Cybertruck Rodeo in Texas, so Cronin deployed security guards to be on the safe side. But fortunately, no problems occurred, and more than 120 Cybertruck owners and dozens of Tesla enthusiasts from as far away as California, Florida and Canada came together to talk about the Cybertruck.
Enthusiasts are aware of the public criticism of the Cybertruck, with Matt Holm, president of the Tesla Owners Club, saying, 'I think people can understand that the CEO of a company and the product are separate. Have you heard of Volkswagen? It's a car company commissioned by Hitler and designed to be the people's car for Nazi Germany. I think the criticism of Tesla is unfair,' and expressing his confusion over the hatred for Tesla. Holm is a Democrat and doesn't necessarily agree with Musk's ideology, but he says he at least has the sense to separate the product from the ideology of the company's top executives.

At the second Cybertruck Rodeo, there was also a parts stand, and bulletproof glass made for the Cybertruck was particularly popular. Reportedly, before the event started, a shop owner shot dozens of bullets at the vehicle with an automatic rifle, and showed visitors the bullet-resistant windows to demonstrate the strength of his products.
An estimated 80 sponsors have also reportedly backed out of the event, having cooperated with Tesla events in the past but fearing the negative attention they would attract.
At the event, Tesla employees reportedly told the audience, 'This is a somewhat difficult time,' and asked them to continue supporting Tesla.
