Test your color sense with 'Color experiment' where you have to guess which circle has a different color

The ability to distinguish colors varies from person to person, but there are not many opportunities to check how well you can recognize the differences in colors. ' Color experiment ', which can be played for free from the browser, allows you to test your ability to distinguish colors by continuing to guess which different colors are among similarly colored circles.

When you open the site, you will see three colored circles and the words 'Find the Odd Disk', so click on the circle of a different color. The page looks dim even with the screen brightness at its maximum, making it difficult to distinguish the colors. Before playing, please note that if a blue light filter or similar is turned on, the colors will look different, so you will need to turn off the filter.

Click on a circle to display the next question. Similarly, select the circle that you think is a different color from the three circles.

The third question was about purple colors. The colors shown were random, and various colors such as red and blue were displayed. The difficulty level varied from colors where the difference was obvious to ones where it was almost impossible to tell even if you squinted.

At first glance, it was impossible to tell which of the blue circles in question 12 was a different color.

I tried using the color picker in Adobe Photoshop to check the colors, and found that the top and bottom left circles were the same color, '#344ca5,' while the bottom right was '#3149af,' so the colors were indeed different.

The magenta color displayed in question 16 was also indistinguishable from the color displayed during play.

When I checked with a color picker, I found that only the top circle was a different color.

After completing the 20 questions, the results will be displayed. In this trial, I got 16 out of 20 questions correct, and 4 incorrect. You can also see a review of which colors you got wrong, how you got them wrong, and which were correct, so you may discover which color systems you are bad at distinguishing.

No information has been released on how many questions need to be answered correctly to be considered to have excellent color discrimination abilities, but when the 'Color experiment' became a hot topic on Hacker News, people who are confident in their color sense, such as designers and photographers, commented that they could answer more than 18 out of 20 questions with confidence. However, the ease of viewing may vary depending on the monitor and display settings used.
