ChatGPT introduces new features such as easy shopping and integration with WhatsApp

It has been revealed that ChatGPT's search function will be enhanced, a shopping function will be added, and the quoting function will be enhanced.

The first feature is 'Shopping.' The search function has been improved and products are now easier to see visually.

When a user turns on ChatGPT's search option and sends a prompt, ChatGPT will search the web.

After searching, products that match the user's prompts are displayed in the form of cards with images.

When a user clicks on a product card, the site selling the product is displayed, along with links to purchase the product directly and reviews. The products displayed

are not advertisements , but are selected independently by ChatGPT.

The shopping feature is being rolled out to all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, free and non-logged-in users starting April 29, 2025. It will take a few days to complete the rollout.

When I entered 'Looking for a coffee maker for around 30,000 yen' in the free version, images of several products were displayed as 'recommended coffee makers.' However, at the time of writing, clicking on the images did not take me to the product sales page, but instead linked me to blog articles such as 'product rankings' and 'product reviews' published by third parties.

Detailed information about each product was also printed at the bottom of the image.

The second feature is the ability to search on WhatsApp, where users can send a message to +1-800-242-8478 and ChatGPT will respond.

Third, we've improved citations. ChatGPT now allows you to include multiple citations per answer, allowing you to scrutinize and verify information from more sources. We've also added a new 'highlight' UI that makes it clearer which part of the answer a citation refers to.

Lastly, there is the trending and autocomplete feature, which shows trending words when searching on ChatGPT and suggests relevant words to prompt you as you type.

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT's search feature is one of its most popular features, powering over 1 billion web searches in the past week alone.
