When you put it in your mouth, the aroma of natto drifts with a pungent smell. 'Kameda's Kakinotane with Dry Natto' Tasting Review

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Kameda Seika will release ' Kameda's Kakinotane with Dry Natto ' exclusively at 7-Eleven. This product, which is advertised as 'natto rice that you can pick up' and contains natto that you can actually pick up, was provided to us by Kameda Seika a little early, so we tried it.
Kameda Seika has released 'Tsumameru Natto Rice'! 'Kameda's Kakinotane with Dried Natto' is now available at 7-Eleven stores nationwide | Kameda Seika Co., Ltd.
This is 'Kameda Kakinotane with Dry Natto.'

The raw material used is processed natto.

The calorie content is 106kcal per bag.

Open one end of the bag from the cut opening.

I poured the entire contents onto a plate.

Mixed with regular persimmon seeds, small dried natto is put in. Perhaps because it is dry, the scent of natto is not so strong, but the editorial staff who do not like natto are so strong that they are put off by this point.

When we weighed each piece, the ratio of persimmon seeds to dried natto was 17g:8g, or roughly 2:1.

Before eating, the editorial staff thought 'it doesn't have much of a scent,' but when they put it in their mouth, they commented, 'At first, the scent of the persimmon seeds is strong, but then the scent of natto comes, and it feels like the spiciness and saltiness of the persimmon seeds are covered by the scent of natto. It absorbs the moisture in your mouth and becomes sticky, so you might be worried about your mouth smell after eating it.' It feels more like a snack to go with tea than as a snack, and is perfect for pairing with green tea or hot tea rather than beer.

When I actually tried it, I found that it had the same impact as raw natto, so next I tried putting it on rice. The aroma of natto mixed with the steam wafted through the air, and the editorial staff who don't like natto had a hard time just being near it. The editorial staff who tried it with rice commented, 'It might actually be good as a topping. The persimmon seeds are too big, though. If you eat it with rice, the smell is lessened and it might not be so bad.'

Kameda Kaki-no-tane with Dried Natto will be priced at 168 yen (excluding tax) and will be available at 7-Eleven stores nationwide from April 22, 2025.
