The Verge reports that OpenAI plans to release GPT-4.1, as well as the smaller GPT-4.1 mini and GPT-4.1 nano, in April 2025. While GPT-4.5 , released in February 2025, is a model focused on sentence generation, GPT-4.1 is positioned as an improved version of GPT-4o, a multimodal inference model.
