Luxshare, which assembles Apple products such as the iPhone, has said it will not rule out the possibility of establishing a manufacturing base in the United States, but there are major obstacles to producing iPhones in the United States.

The Trump tariffs were imposed at around 13:00 on April 9, 2025. President Donald Trump later announced that he would suspend reciprocal tariffs against some countries for 90 days and reduce tariffs to 10%, but the confusion continues. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Luxshare , an electronics assembly company that assembles Apple products such as iPhones, said in an investor briefing that it 'does not exclude the possibility of establishing a manufacturing base in the United States.'

Luxshare is a company that assembles many electronic devices, including the iPhone. Luxshare is headquartered in China and has a production base in Vietnam. However, the Trump tariffs have resulted in a 125% tariff in China and a 46% tariff in Vietnam.

Luxshare held an investor briefing on April 9, 2025 regarding its response to Trump tariffs. In the briefing, Luxshare stated that it will maintain its large-scale production system in Vietnam and continue exporting from Vietnam to the U.S. In addition, although Luxshare has a production base in India, it stated that it will not expand production there unless requested by customers.

Luxshare CEO Grace Wang also stated that 'it would be extremely difficult to move electronics production to the US,' but added that 'if there is commercial guarantee and proper evaluation can be carried out, we would not rule out the possibility of localizing some products to meet the demands of the US market. However, we would need to consider long-term development and safety,' indicating that the company is not completely ruling out the possibility of setting up a production base in the US.

On April 8, 2025, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that 'American products, including the iPhone, can be manufactured in the United States.' On the other hand, Apple's former CEO Steve Jobs and CEO Tim Cook have argued that 'it is difficult to manufacture iPhones in the United States' due to cost and manpower issues.
