Recaps is a feature that allows readers to review the storyline and characters of a new book in a series by summarizing them. 'For fans of a book series, it can be hard to remember the plot and characters after a long break or waiting for a new book to be released. With Recaps, readers can jump into the next book in their favorite series more easily than ever,' Amazon said in a statement.
To view a book summary, first select the series you want to review from your Kindle library.
Tap 'View recaps.'
Select the volume for which you want to see a summary.
Tap 'I understand.'

Recaps is available to Kindle users in the United States and can be accessed on all Kindle devices by downloading the latest software, and will soon be available on the Kindle app for iOS.
When Recaps became a hot topic on Reddit , some people expressed concern about the use of AI, saying, 'The announcement doesn't specify who writes the summaries. What if they're letting AI write the plot?' and 'If AI is summarizing books, then Amazon is training its in-house language models on books.' When TechCrunch, a technology media outlet, contacted Amazon, Amazon spokesperson Ale Iraheta acknowledged that AI is being used, saying, 'We use technology, including generative AI and Amazon moderators, to create short summaries that accurately reflect the content of the book.'
