The ranking of smartphone sales worldwide in 2024 is as follows. First place is the iPhone 15, second place is the iPhone 15 Pro Max, and third place is the iPhone 15 Pro, with the iPhone 15 series dominating the top three. According to Counterpoint, demand for the iPhone Pro model is increasing, and more than half of the total iPhone sales for the year were Pro models. The star indicates a 'premium smartphone' priced at $600 (approximately 93,000 yen) or more.

The rankings for 2024 and 2023 look like this. As with

the 2023 results , the top 10 were dominated by Apple and Samsung smartphones. Also, in 2023, only the inexpensive Galaxy A series of Samsung smartphones made it into the top 10, but in 2024, the high-end Galaxy S24 Ultra ranked 7th. Regarding the reason for the success of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, analyst Harshit Rastogi commented, ' The generative AI function installed in the Galaxy S24 Ultra has attracted the interest of users.'

Below is a graph summarizing the 'sales share,' 'average selling price (ASP),' and 'shipment volume share' of each manufacturer. Each line shows the results of 'Apple (black),' 'Samsung (dark blue),' 'Xiaomi (orange),' 'OPPO (green),' and 'Vivo (blue).' Looking at the graph, we can see that Apple's sales share and sales volume share have fallen compared to 2023, but its ASP has increased. This figure also shows that attention is being paid to the Pro model, which is the more expensive iPhone.

Looking at the smartphone market as a whole, sales increased 5% year-on-year, shipments increased 4% and ASP increased 1% year-on-year to a record high of $356.

In addition, in China, the manufacturer with the largest share in 2024 was Vivo (17.8%), followed by Huawei (16.3%), Xiaomi (15.7%), and Apple (15.5%). Details of the Chinese smartphone market can be found in the following article.
