Apple released the mixed reality headset 'Vision Pro' in February 2024, but it was reported that demand was low due to the price of around 600,000 yen even for the low-cost model, and production was scaled back, leading to hopes for more affordable AR glasses.

Apple's AR glasses development project has been rumored several times in the past, and development was confirmed as being underway around 2017.

After that, it was said that development had been halted, but in 2021, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that AR glasses would be announced in 2025.

Apple's AR glasses were originally intended to be used in conjunction with an iPhone, but due to processing power issues, they have been changed to be connected to a Mac.
However, even in reviews overseen by executives, performance did not improve, and development was finally halted in the last week of January 2025.
Just a week ago, Apple transferred the executive who led the Vision Pro team to the AI division.
