Jeff Bezos, known as the founder of Amazon, is also the owner of the major daily newspaper, The Washington Post. The first page of the complaint filed by Amazon is below. The plaintiff is Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC, which is responsible for Amazon's satellite internet plan ' Project Kuiper ,' and the defendant is the Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) , which is responsible for worker protection in the state of Washington.

According to the complaint, L&I conducted investigations into Project Kuiper's research facilities four times between August and October 2024. Then, on November 26, 2025, The Washington Post requested L&I to disclose documents related to the investigation.

L&I presented Amazon with a 'list of documents proposed to be disclosed to the Washington Post,' and gave the company the opportunity to request a court order to block disclosure if the documents contained information deemed confidential. As a result, Amazon filed this lawsuit.

Amazon claims the documents in question contain 'highly sensitive information, including employee names' and 'records that reveal Amazon's technology capabilities,' and is trying to block them from being released to the Washington Post.

Amazon was founded by Bezos, who became the owner of The Washington Post after acquiring it in 2013. For this reason, the foreign media outlet GeekWire is calling this case 'Bezos vs. Bezos.'
