As a particularly notorious site in the deep fake porn industry, the investigative journalism project 'STRG_F' centered on young reporters and Bellingcat have named 'MrDeepFakes'. With more than 650,000 registered members, 'MrDeepFakes' hosts tens of thousands of images and videos and has millions of monthly accesses. According to STRG_F, a total of 58,123 videos have been uploaded to 'MrDeepFakes' since February 2018 and by December 2024, and have been viewed more than 2 billion times in total.

Patrizia Schlosser, a reporter who investigated this deep fake porn this time, said that she was initially shocked and embarrassed to find that more than 30 deep fake porn videos of herself had been created and published by 'MrDeepFakes,' even though they were not real. However, she later realized that she had to fight back instead of staying silent.
It is unclear who is behind this 'MrDeepFakes' site. Paid memberships can be purchased with virtual currency, making it virtually impossible to trace, and PayPal payments are linked to numerous accounts under unverifiable names.
STRG_F and Bellingcat then focused on two apps that were prominently promoted on the site: 'DeepSwap AI' and 'candy.ai.'
'DeepSwap AI' is an app linked from the top of the 'MrDeepFakes' site that allows you to create realistic deep fakes for $9.99 (about 1,540 yen) per month.

'DeepSwap AI' was distributed on Google Play and the App Store, but both have been discontinued at the time of writing. The 'DeepSwap AI' official website still has a link to the 'DS Pro' app available on the App Store, but the description of the app is 'Personal Outfit Gallery.'

In addition, the developer of 'DeepSwap AI' was listed as 'Meta way' on Google Play and 'Metaway Intellengic Limited' on the App Store, but the developer of 'DS Pro' has changed to 'Genzone Future Intellengic Limited.'
According to Bellingcat, corporate registration information in Hong Kong is publicly available and can be viewed by paying a fee, and upon investigation, it was discovered that a man named Zhang, who lives in Shenzhen, across from Hong Kong, was registered as the sole director. Metaaway Intellengic was a wholly owned subsidiary of a company called Deep Creation Limited, which in turn was a wholly owned subsidiary of Virtual Evolution Limited, based in the British Virgin Islands.
Further investigation into the three companies found links to Shenzhen-based Nexgo, a public company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with operations in Brazil, Dubai and India, which listed Virtual Evolution Limited and Deep Creation Limited as affiliated subsidiaries in its financial statements. Nexgo did not respond to Bellingcat's request for comment.
Another app, candy.ai, allows users to create their own AI girlfriend, but it had no links until December 17, 2024, when it was revealed that a link was added on December 20.
candy.ai is owned by Malta-based EverAI Limited, whose CEO is Alexis Souropoulos. Souropoulos is also co-founder of the Australian pet sitter matching service 'Mad Paws'. In response to an inquiry from Bellingcat, the link to 'candy.ai' from 'MrDeepFakes' was removed, and EverAI responded by saying that it 'does not condone the creation of deep fakes.'
Efforts are being made around the world to combat deepfakes. For example, the UK has enacted a law in 2024 to crack down on the production and sharing of deepfake pornography, and access to deepfake pornography sites such as 'MrDeepFakes' is also blocked.

It should be noted that MrDeepFakes did not respond to inquiries from Beelingcat regarding this matter.
