Tokushima Awaodori Airport suddenly encounters 'Anime Jack' - Preparations in the midst of a storm

Tokushima Awa Odori Airport has been suddenly 'anime-jacked' since Saturday, September 17th. This is in conjunction with the event ' Machi★Asobi Vol.7 ,' which will be held from September 23rd. As the name suggests, the airport, which featured the Awa Odori dance, has been suddenly transformed into an anime-themed atmosphere.
Arrived at Tokushima Awaodori Airport at night.

There are still two more arriving flights, so taxis are waiting for passengers.

Some of the banners had already been installed on the pillars near the entrance.

Tokushima Airport opens at 6:15am and closes at 9:30pm.
When we entered the airport building, we saw materials for setup.

This is a flyer announcing Machi★Asobi Vol. 7. At this point, the flyer wasn't there yet, but it seems to have arrived shortly after.

The flyer next to it was for the Iya Heike Festival, which featured an illustration from Keiko Takemiya's Heike-themed '

It was 7:55 PM, and only one ANA flight and one JAL flight left from Haneda. Due to rain at Haneda Airport that day, the arrival was delayed by about 20 minutes.

From the lobby, you go through baggage inspection and then into the boarding lounge.

It's raining heavily outside

The wind and rain were so strong that it felt like I was in a suspense movie where people were trapped in an airport.
A panel emerged from the passage.

This is a panel of large posters of the Awa Odori dance from the past. It wasn't part of the original anime-jacking plan, but Governor Iizumi thought, 'Maybe something like this would work.' It's always helpful to have a governor who is understanding of subculture...

Various tools such as spirit levels have been brought out, and it looks like work is finally about to begin in earnest.

The last flight has not yet arrived, but the last flight from Tokushima has already left, so the real work begins in the boarding lounge. Here, an Awa Odori banner hangs from the ceiling...

This will be replaced with an anime banner. I placed the flyer I mentioned earlier in the bottom right corner, and it's quite large.

The Awa Odori banner is still in the foreground, but the one in the back has been replaced.

And then the Fate/Zero banner...

Work has also begun in the departure lobby on the third floor. Mobile scaffolding has been set up to replace a banner high up on a pillar.

And replace it.

In the dimly lit lobby, preparations for replacement banners are underway one after another.

The last flight arrives at Tokushima Airport. No one would have guessed that the airport would soon be completely filled with anime.

Before long, the airport was deserted and work continued in silence.

The poster panel is installed about 70cm above the floor and firmly fixed to the window frame.

Additionally, a bar was lowered from above into the arrival lobby on the first floor. This was in preparation for the largest banner to be hung in the atrium.

This is huge...

Detailed checks are carried out to ensure the tilt is correct and the left and right positions are correct.

The wind and rain outside shows no signs of letting up...

The arrivals board isn't broken. It's midnight. All airport functions are closed.

Meanwhile, work continues and is almost finished. The banners on the pillars on the first floor are being replaced.

The work was completed in about five hours, and Tokushima Awaodori Airport was transformed into 'Tokushima Anime Airport.'

Please look forward to the next article to see how the replacement is completed.
